Colm Lyon, CEO of Realex Payments said "We were truly delighted to be sponsors of the Web Awards for 2009. It gave us the chance to say thanks to the hundreds of web people who use our service and develop web sites that integrate with us. The Irish web community is a wonderful network of people who use the Internet in many diverse ways - as shown by the quantity and quality of the nominations. It is also a community that is clearly in love with these awards!"

Speaking at the event Colm Lyon (CEO Realex Payments) said he wanted to thank all the web developers and clients who had helped make Realex Payments what it is today. About the Irish Web Awards:

The Irish Web Awards were created to be an open and transparent way of celebrating the best of the Irish Web each year. This year over 500 websites were nominated by 700 people. 86 judges judged these websites and 350 people turned up on the night of the 11th to celebrate. The Web Awards are free to enter and every nominated site gets judged by a team of judges. The event is hosted by 2FM's Rick O'Shea each year and the event strives to be informal and with a high fun quotient. Giant iPhones, bananas, sweets, cupcakes, glow in the dark glasses and the worst powerpoint presentations ever are some of the elements to the Web Awards shindig. The Web Awards are organised by Damien Mulley of Mulley Communications.
